How Couch Potatoes Can Lose Weight Without Leaving Their Couches—I'll Show You How...

Post Content: *** You're self-aware about your weight. What I'm about to tell you will be new information for you.
You fool yourself into thinking you understand the root cause of your obesity. You blame a lack of time and desire to exercise for your current state of affairs. You blame your lack of self-control and the fact that you have a soft spot for food. Clearly, you're clueless!
You have the metabolism of a professional athlete, which is why you're putting on weight—and this will stun you. Hold on a little longer. When athletes stop competing, they tend to put on weight quickly. That's crazy. Athletes have particularly "trainable" subconscious minds, which is also the reason why they bloat after being adept at sports. If you can figure out how it works, you can learn to maintain a healthy weight without starving yourself or engaging in ridiculously intense physical activity.
Losing Weight and Keeping Your Athletic Mind Sharp
What you eat and how you live are the direct causes of weight growth, so let me mention that first. In this context, I am not advocating any pseudo-science. But I'll show you why it's so illusive to control your diet and lifestyle. You haven't given it your all yet if you think you can alter your habitual behaviour by force of will alone.
As mature, self-reliant individuals, you and I take great satisfaction in our ability to think clearly and make our own decisions. Well, that's really bonkers. Actually, we hardly never do things that make us uncomfortable in the near term. Do you not believe that? Just to show who's boss, go ahead and take a cold shower. For two days, abstain from solid foods. Your body will be furious, but it won't hurt. The truth is that our bodies set response patterns, and we usually have little choice but to follow them. Apologies, but it is quite accurate.
*** Mind Control Is the Key to Body Control
Mental preparation is the key to physical fitness. Here, we are not referring to mathematics, but rather to your sub-conscious mind, the dwelling place of long-standing patterns, habits, and immediate reactions. You are a trinity consisting of three parts: 1) a sluggish physical body, 2) a perceptive but unstable conscious mind, and 3) a slow but reliable subconscious that is responsible for the majority of your actions here.
As you may be aware, the subconscious is in charge of all athletic ability in addition to providing emotional responses that promote "good" behaviour (like eating pizza). Every activity, from walking to typing, involves a continuous back-and-forth between deliberate brain signals and automatic body reactions. If you want to know how to shoot a basketball, for instance, you have to use your conscious mind to burn in a pattern, and then your subconscious will pick it up. You "no longer have to think about it" once you've perfected an action. You haven't "learnt it" while you're still considering the details of a dance step. In other words, your unconscious mind is not fully developed yet. Your conscious mind just needs to shout out the command for your subconscious to carry it out once you have "learnt" the skill.
For a better grasp of your mental makeup, let's compare it to a couple of animals: picture an elephant carrying a chimpanzee. In contrast to your intelligent, quick-witted conscious mind, your subconscious is more akin to a clumsy, powerful elephant.
Jungle monkey (mind)
The sentence is a complete and utter doodle.
Skilful, quick, and imaginative
Forgetful
Imagines himself as the master
Subconcious elephant
This is not a complete or accurate statement.
Slow
Lacking imagination
Memory whiz with a poor learning curve
Incredible reflexes (I know, the analogy isn't really accurate)
Typically in charge
The Myth of Willpower
One benefit of this metaphor is that it enables me to highlight how ridiculous the idea of "willpower"—the conscious mind's attempt to push its way into the subconscious—really is. Picture this: an elephant being wrestled to the ground by a chimpanzee. What happened to the chimpanzee's "brute force"? The game will end the moment the elephant sits on him. By the way, that is precisely the point at which any diet that relies solely on self-control fails. You have a potent tool in your subconscious. Using force will not control it, but persuasion will.
The Three-Legged Stick, the Elephant, and the String
Because of their immense strength and submissive nature, Indonesians often employ elephants in construction jobs. After a long day of hauling hundreds of tonnes of wood and stone, the elephant retires to his straw bed for the night. Is there a specific diameter of rope that is needed to lasso an elephant? A tiny stick driven into the ground is attached to a string.
You see, the elephant was shackled with the same rod and string when he was a baby, and he couldn't tear himself free. This stays with him forever, and he'll never doubt the little stick and string's strength again. Let that sink in.
How good are you at what you do? Frankly, you're clueless. Your formative experiences have shaped your limitations, which are unrelated to your adult skills. Your emotions are bound up in notions from your upbringing, just like the elephant. The majority of your adult personality is actually a defence mechanism that you developed as a fearful child. Is there anything you would trade for the ability to start over?
Fortunately, you're not only an elephant; you also have chimpanzee DNA! Ignore the fact that it might have sounded better. A tiny, intelligent, conscious part of your mind allows you to rewire your entire mind. That's correct, your chimpanzee-like conscious mind can rewrite and manage your whole mental experience.
We are defined by this talent, which makes us the most adaptable animals and enables us to do incredible feats through mental training. Extreme sports and playing the concert piano are two examples of how this extraordinary human talent harnesses the power of the mind.
*** Alright, how is this related to losing weight?
The true question, then, is "how to teach the subconscious" since, as you may recall, elephants learn and mimic patterns of behaviour that are taught to them. This is the one easy trick that everyone should know. You have complete control over your thoughts once you grasp this basic truth. By the end of the article, you will have a firm grasp on the reasons for the failure of our educational system.
When we speak to our subconscious in a language it does not understand, it often disregards what we say. Emotions are the subconscious mind's language. The subconscious mind can gauge the significance of every action based on our emotional state. Take the case of attempting to acquire new skills as an example. Your emotions are telling you things like "this sucks, I wish I were elsewhere, how much longer is this going to take?" and you're working hard to learn, but you're not loving the process. What this means is that it will take much longer as you are telling your subconscious to "ignore this activity, just move along, there's nothing to see here." To what extent did you find it easy to learn in high school, and how were you emotionally?
Even though it doesn't seem like it, you have complete command over your conscious feelings. Additionally, this is the most basic approach to teaching one's subconscious a new skill. Undoubtedly, it resembles a natural hypnosis technique. Emotional programming is similar to classical hypnosis, except that it uses the conscious mind to achieve the same results.
For the dark side, keep in mind that I said it has three sides. Mental, physical, and underlying? A surprising fact is that your body is constantly programming your subconscious thinking. In response to your hunger, your body sends an emotional signal that says, "this is good activity, very very good activity" when you bite into a slice of thick cheesy pizza. Years of such programming form subconscious patterns, and one of those patterns is a desire for food.
Fortunately, one can completely re-program their thinking.
You may immediately put what you've learnt about the fundamentals of mind programming into practice. Instead of craving food, you're going to crave exercise. This method is both entertaining and effective since it involves practicing mental jujitsu to turn an existing craving for food into a desire to exercise, rather than fighting against years of food programming. Magic? I prefer it now.
First things first, you're going to fast for a bit (sugar-free beverages are fine). At this point in time, we are not attempting to reduce weight by following this regimen. We're merely aiming to elicit a feeling of hunger. As soon as you feel the first pangs of hunger, perform the following:
Take a few deep breaths, relax, and let yourself feel the hunger; then, avoid thinking about eating. Alternatively, picture yourself doing sit-ups with a sense of pure joy. It's true; just picture yourself doing sit-ups when starving, and let a wave of happiness and contentment wash over you. Go back to what you were doing after that.
Do this mental exercise again when you feel the next wave of hunger in a few minutes. Do this for about an hour, and then grab something light to eat. Think about how great it would be if you could perform sit-ups as you eat. Create mental associations between the following: joy, hunger, food, and sit-ups.
What about joy, sit-ups, hunger, and food? That guy is really insane.
Maybe, but all you're doing is associating a positive action with a tried-and-true pattern of reaction. You won't believe how this method can bring on an overwhelming desire to perform sit-ups. The mind is a wonder to behold.
In the meanwhile, give in to the temptation to do sit-ups after a few days. Make sure the emotional feedback loop continues as you work out by "letting" yourself enjoy it. Quickly regain emotional control or discontinue exercise if you sense that you are not enjoying it. Subverting your efforts in pursuit of a few additional calories is not worth it.
Motivate yourself instead of your body! There is no gym more important than your own thoughts. At some point, you'll feel the procedure becoming enjoyable as your mind guides your body.
When I initially tried this method out a number of years ago, I clearly recall it. When I felt the need to do situps, I remembered that they would physically satisfy my appetite for about an hour. I was under the impression that the "silly, happy, situp diet" was the most bizarre eating regimen ever. In reality, though, I had learnt how to deliberately channel intense desires towards a goal. I highly recommend the self-hypnosis MP3 audio called "Appetite Zapper" if you are interested in delving more into this approach. It will lead you step-by-step towards mastering your food cravings:

The intellect is incredible, yet there is no instruction manual. Autopilot works quite well most of the time, so we don't usually learn to open the hood and see what it's capable of. It's unfortunate because we have the power to achieve most of our life goals with just a little bit of effort and a little bit of luck. We can be successful, happy, healthy, have meaningful relationships, and feel accomplished.
