A Case of "Normal" Breath Will Turn Into Bad Breath and "Bad" Breath Into Horrib Due to Post Nasal Drip and Nasal Sinus Congestion
A case of "normal" breath will become "bad" breath and a case of "bad" breath will become "horrible" breath due to post nasal drip and nasal sinus congestion!
Tonsils, tonsiloliths, post nasal drip, and sinus issues are all strongly associated with bad breath.
I explain in my book "The Bad Breath Bible" how anaerobic bacteria—those that do not require oxygen to survive—cause bad breath and sour, bitter, or metallic tastes. The purpose of the bacteria's existence is to degrade the proteins in the food we ingest. On the other hand, they will also begin to degrade the proteins in post-nasal drip under specific circumstances.
Thus, poor breath and unpleasant tastes in the mouth are more common in patients with post nasal drip, sinus issues, and other similar conditions. The anaerobic bacteria begin to extract sulfur compounds from the amino acids that make up the proteins included in all of this surplus mucus by using the post-nasal drip mucus as a food source.
Anaerobic bacteria responsible for foul breath are known to "love" the amino acids cysteine and methionine. These amino acids are the fundamental components of proteins, which include dairy products and post-nasal drip. In reality, most people find that they get more mucus or phlegm in their throats when they consume excessive amounts of milk or cheese. Many people experience this as a normal reaction, but regrettably it just makes your breath smell worse and leaves a terrible taste in your mouth.
If your tonsils are still attached, you might be carrying more of the bacteria that can cause "interesting" and sometimes misdiagnosed phenomena known as TONSILOLITHS. The term "tonsil stones" refers to the accumulation of sulfur compounds produced by the bacteria and post-nasal drip mucus that drains down the back of the throat. Every time someone swallows, these bacteria are likely to wind up in the "nooks and crannies" of the tonsils. I cannot tell you how many times my patients have told me about asking their dentist what these items were, and 'food particles' is usually the response. There is no way that this is not the case!
If you have sinus congestion, excessive mucus, or post-nasal drip, what can you do? There are basically just a few options available to you:
1. Use medication and/or chemicals to clear the sinuses and stop mucus buildup from post-nasal drip; however, take caution not to overdoze on these medications as they may cause dry mouth, which is a common side effect of almost all antihistamines. Due to its ability to simulate an anaerobic environment, which is ideal for the "bugs" to release volatile sulfur compounds, dry mouth is the most prevalent cause of foul breath. Avoid taking any kind of antihistamine too often as many of them can become habits!
2. Apply Nasal Sinus Formula TheraBreath. Twice a day, I advise lightly breathing after squeezing three to four drops into each nostril to let the powerful mixture pass through the sinuses. After the formula successfully stops the creation of sulfur compounds produced by the reaction between post-nasal drip and the anaerobic sulfur-producing bacteria, the majority of individuals can finally enjoy the sensation of fresh breath and taste.
3. The HydroPulse® is a useful tool for treating persistent post nasal drip and sinus issues. An expert in Ear, Nose, and Throat created this remarkably efficient nasal-sinus irrigator to clear the sinuses. Before each use, add just two to three drops of AktivOxigen serum to the trough for optimal results.
4. By utilizing oxygenating oral care products like TheraBreath, TheraBreath PLUS, AktivOxigen, PerioTherapy, and TheraBrite, you may reduce the amount of post nasal drip in your throat and sinuses and get rid of the most common side effect of excess mucus, which is foul breath.
Drugs and medication MAY be able to stop post-nasal drip, but at what cost?
You can use a variety of over-the-counter nasal decongestants and antihistamines to assist reduce congestion and symptoms associated with post-nasal drip. While some of them truly are excellent at what they do, the most are simply TOO GOOD! They make the mouth incredibly dry, which makes bad breath worse. Even when the side effect of dry mouth is not too severe, the problem returns, usually with a vengeance, when you stop taking the prescription! This is due to the possibility that your body will get resistant to all antihistamines and nasal decongestants, particularly nasal sprays. Though many sprays can become habits, TheraBreath formulations are not like that, therefore proceed with caution!
To put it briefly, you should NOT try to treat your nasal congestion with over-the-counter decongestants and antihistamines. Instead, I advise clearing the mucus from post-nasal drip in your sinuses with a nasal irrigator like the HydroPulse®.
Probably the best way to get rid of post-nasal drip and reduce sinus infections is to use nasal irrigation. More than 37 published medical publications back up the FDA-registered HydroPulse Sinus Irrigator. The HydroPulse's distinct pulsatile irrigation aids in relieving post-nasal drip and ciliary function. The cilia, or microscopic hair-like fibers in the nasal sinus passages, can be stimulated to regain their natural protective "sweeping & cleansing" action with a brief period of consistent use. Use this remedy consistently every day for ten days to help clear up sinus conditions that seem to be coming on, such as persistent post-nasal drip and excess mucus. I suggest using this simple home device in conjunction with an oxygenating solution, such AktivOxigen serum, for optimal outcomes.
Some advice on how to treat post-nasal drip bad breath
Reduce the amount of extra mucus in the back of the throat and, more importantly, make sure you neutralize the odor this excess mucus causes. This may be a better alternative for those who only experience seasonal post nasal drip or "off and on" sinus headaches.
Most of my patients discover that there are three essential formulae that work incredibly well at eliminating the post-nasal drip odor:
1. Nasal Sinus Drops: these are incredibly useful for eliminating the volatile sulfur compounds that cause bad breath from the sinuses, a location that is very difficult to access.
2. You can ingest AktivOxigen Tablets by mixing them with an unflavored mouthwash. The treatment truly helps break down post-nasal drip congestion and extra mucus in the throat since it penetrates the throat more deeply than simple rinsing.
3. Extinguisher Spray: This widely used nozzle applicator spray effectively reaches the tonsils and rear of the throat. Those who experience post-nasal drip and excessive throat mucous frequently have issues in these areas.
I've been helping patients avoid foul tastes, sinus congestion, and poor breath for the past ten years, and I plan to stay here for a very long time.
